Bulgoksa (Bulgoksa temple)
When the weather is good, visiting a temple may be good for a change. If you happen to be in Changwon, Bulgoksa temple is a nice place to visit.
1. Visiting brief
A rock with engraved the temple’s name, Bulgoksa, is welcoming us.
The entrance is very grand!
Bulgoksa was built in the Unified Silla Period. Vairocana Buddha (a stone statue of Buddha) which is Korea’s treasure No. 436, is in the temple.
There is a pavilion with a bell.
When I got there, a buddhist monk was chanting. I have adjusted my appearance for the solemn ambience.
The colorful Dancheong, traditional multicolored paintwork on wooden buildings, is always an eye-catching creation. I wasn’t sure whether it was refurbished or not, but beautiful all the same.
In the building, an Avalokiteśvara, a buddhist saint with thousand hands, was displayed. Mysterious indeed!
