[Seongsan‐gu | Tourist Attraction] Changwon Olympic Park

Changwon Olympic Park

There are many parks at Changwon. Among such parks, there is a special park, where the old Jinhae Line Railroad passed by! I will introduce Changwon Olympic Park.

01 | Visitor’s Report

This Olympic Park was formed to commemorate the successful hosting of the 1988 Seoul Olympics. There are sports facilities available such as a baseball park, soccer field, foot volleyball field, and tennis court, which are used by many residents.

The park is a great place for a walk. The walking path is well organized, and there are many structures at places, which provides not only the joy of watching, but of making memories!

This is the square located inside Olympic Park. The square was so large, I could not contain the image in one picture! ㅠㅠ You may want to notice that a chrysanthemum park is formed centering around this square.

The chrysanthemum park is said to be a specialized park made under the theme of chrysanthemums, by planting 11,205 cultured chrysanthemums, 13,556 wild chrysanthemums, and other wild flowers as part of forming a theme park.

It was too bad that the flowers did not fully bloom when I visited. ㅠㅠ But it was a good thing that at least some of the flowers had bloomed.

The flowers did not fully bloom, but I was happy to be able to see at least these flowers! The different colors are vivid.

You may feel better when walking along the nearby walking path, with the gentle fragrance of flowers. I visited about a month ago, so the flowers probably will have fully bloomed by now! It is a perfect place for an outing with your family or a date with a lover~

After passing this place, the old Jinhae Line Railroad appears.

Wow~ Doesn’t an exclamation come out automatically~? In particular, I think this place makes a perfect photo zone, where you can take the picture of your life! The reason the railroad still remains at Olympic Park is because, this was a railroad passing the downtown of Changwon, as a railroad constructed to connect Gyeongbu Line, Gyeongjeon Line, and Jinhae Port. However, the route was relocated, in order to construct a machinery industrial complex at the Changwon‐si area, thus, this railroad was discarded. It is incredible that a railroad that could have been forgotten by people has been so well preserved.

People say this place is more beautiful when visiting during the spring season. Cherry blossom trees are planted following the railroad, and a movie scene may be displayed during the spring! Many people visit Jinhae to view cherry blossoms during the spring, however, if you are not fond of the crowd, it would not be a bad idea to walk through downtown Changwon, where the park is connected from Changwon Olympic Park and Samdong Park.

On one side of the park, amenities available for residents’ use are gathered. There is also a tower informing of the current time and temperature~

Among the various sports facilities, this is the foot volleyball field. It would be better if this place could be better managed. ㅠㅠ

There is also a tennis court. Many people were playing tennis, although it was a rainy day~

Following the foot volleyball field and tennis court, there was also a basketball court.

This is the sports field. Some people are exercising by walking!
