[Masanhappo-Gu/Attraction] Masan Literature Museum

Masan Literature Museum

In Masanhappo-gu Sinpo-dong, there is Guhang Neighborhood Park. Located near the apartment complex and residential neighborhoods, this Guhang Neighborhood Park., is a space of rest in the middle of the city, where you can feel both the music and art through the Masan Sculpture Park and the Music Hall!

01. Visit

This is the entrance to the park! You can think of the part in it’s entirety to be a sculpture park, and the music hall is located near the center.
It is towards the left from the standpoint of the sign, and we looked around this side first.
here is a stage right behind the sculpture. Although it is small, they say that outdoor performances and musical concerts are held here from time to time, which I think would be beautiful!
From the entrance, the music hall is located near the sidewalk, and we went in after we looked around the sculpture part. I will introduce it in a bit.
There is a sculpture works map in front of the music hall, and it contains the name of the sculpture and the sculptor. These are the works of the top 18 sculptors in the country! It would be fun to try to guess the title!
There is also a acupressure way for you to experience acupressure with your bare feet, and there are unique design benches to go along with being a sculpture part.
There is also a separate pavilion. I thought that it would be a space for the residents, as it is near a residential area, but the size was bigger than I thought, so it was great to take a walk. It is said to be 11,735.1㎡!
As we found the sculpture map later, we could not match them up individually~ But it was still fun to look around
There are also exercise equipments and I saw senior citizens exercising, which was great~
This is the title of this sculpture, memory+love is the title. It was a but difficult, but it was great cultural activity./ The sculptures are positioned well for view during a walk around the park.

There are cars outside of the park, to indicate that this is indeed a park in the middle of the city.
When we countinue to walk along the trail
An enormous! violin sculpture! comes into view. This was the second most memorable sculpture in my mind. Isn’t this a great sculpture that goes so well with the music hall?
There are also structures where you can experience the taste and the style of Korea! It is not a real well
But to the right is a huge lawn. It is not visible from the photo, but there were many people who were enjoying their exercise here, playing badminton, catch-ball and etc.
 Isn’t it huge?
The title of this work is fancy outing, and this was my favorite.
For a moment, I thought it was a bench and almost sat down! Please make sure not to do that. The title is the Dream Figure
This is a piece called Tuh- the blooming of the rose.
After we looked around, there was another pavilion. When we went, the weather was cook, but on a sunny day, you can sit down and get some rest here.
There is also a basketball court next to the big lawn!/ And this was Memento Mori, which was a bit shocking.

This is the stage next to the Masan Music Hall, and performances and concerts must be held here as well~
Now, let’s go into the Literature Museum. The hours of operation are from 9am to 6pm and it is closed on Saturdays! Please make a note of this and if you are short on time, visit the music hall first.
There is no admission fee. Here is the explanation about the music hall. For some additional information, it originally opened as the Cho Doo-nam Memorial Hall in 2003, but in 2005, the name changed ti Masan Music Hall. And since than, the sculpture park was built in front of the music hall in 2003 and it was become the park that we see now!
This is the inside of the music hall.
There is a piano which you can play!
This is the music experience section, and here in Masan Music Hall, there are data regarding the musicians from Masan as well as those who performed in Masan, on display here! Let’s look at the list of the songs
It’s mainly children’s song~ The reason for it is because the music of Masan was formed through the period of independence and the Japanese colonial era, and hence the music was expressed in the form of children’s song!
This is the theater where you can watch the history of the music of Masan.
It looks like there is a real live performance being carried out, doesn’t it?
It is actually a directed image! It is not real~
Some of the most well known musicians of Masan include, Lee Il-lae, Cho Doo-nam, Ban Ya-wol, Lee Su-in and etc.
It is more clear when we look at their representative works! The musician Lee Su-in has a representative work called Appeuro or the Gohyangeui Norae.
The representative works of Lee Il-lae include Santokki, which is a song that we all know!
Pop musician Ban Ya-wol’s song was a bit unfamiliar to me~ But I do know his debut song Bulhyojaneun Oppnida!. How many of these songs do you know? It was surprising to find out that the famous songs that we know were of musicians from Masan. The Masan Sculpture Park and Masan Music Hall seem to be a great cultural spot located in the middle of the city! If you get the chance, how about enjoying your cultural activities here?
The image above is the arrangement map of the inside of the exhibition hall, provided by the music hall, for your reference.
There is a water purifier in the music hall.
There is no restroom in the Masan Sculpture Park, but there is a restroom outside of the Masan Music Hall!/ Parking lot is available for those bringing cars.
There were also many people exercising here as well, and after the exercise,
it would be a great idea to rinse your feet at the foot bath~
